Hello Film Fans and Fanatics!

Welcome to Film Fan Fridays for Friday June 8, 2012!

In limited release this week we have 4 films to choose from starting with a 1983-set Canadian science fiction film Beyond the Black Rainbow which I am really curious about. We also have the stoner comedy High School which I saw a few years back at the Toronto After Dark Film Festival 2010 and I thought it was hilarious! Also out in limited release is the Indian political thriller Shanghai and Double Trouble a Beijing-set comedy starring Jaycee Chan and I could find a trailer for it I could not find any more information on the film!

In wide release this week we have Cosmopolis hot out of Cannes and was also our May Reading Selection for the Book to Film Club and the adaptation stars Robert Pattinson and is directed by David Cronenberg. Another exciting release of the week is Ridley Scott's Alien prequel Prometheus which I have been doing my very best to avoid spoilers for and in such recently revisited all four Alien films to keep my busy (see reviews here!) and am really looking forward to seeing the new one on the big screen. Last up for wide release is Madagascar 3: Europe's Most Wanted and although I've not seen any of the previous films the trailer for this one gets me, especially the zebra in an afro dancing at the circus. How could that not be fun?
