2011 Scream Award Nominations

Although I'm certainly not the target market for Spike TV, I do always keep my eye out for the Scream Awards every year as they honour science fiction, fantasy, horror and thrillers every year. I love that all Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2, Thor, TRON: Legacy and Super 8 have numerous nominations and for several of the categories (acting specifically) the include both film & TV (go Fringe!) and what other awards includes Most Memorable Mutilation? I mean, that just tells you what kind of awards they are.

Some changes from last years include adding categories of Best Thriller, Best Chase Scene and Best Independent Movie - which has and awesome selection of films: Another Earth, Hatchet II, I Saw the Devil, Monsters and Rubber. We've also seen Best 3-D Movie and Best Comic Book Movie increase from 3 nominations to 5, and lots of the categories have less nominations from last years 6 nominations to 4 or 5.

The Advisory Board for the awards is very is pretty impressive. These are the folks that selected the 2011 nominations: Alexandra Aja, Darren Aronofsky, Tim Burton, John Carpenter, DJ Caruso, Wes Craven, Ronald Emmerich, Neil Gaiman, Tim Kring, Damon Lindelof, James Manos Jr., Robert Rodriguez, George A. Romero, Eli Roth, David Slade, Matthew Vaughn, Edgar Wright and Rob Zombie. Wow. That is an impressive list. Wish there was a woman on it though!

The Scream Awards are based on votes, so swing by their site & have your say!

The Scream Awards will be presented announced on Tuesday October 18, 2011.
